If Bayern Munich is thinking about cutting costs, it will probably not happen with midfielder Joshua Kimmich’s next contract.
The 29-year-old is Bayern’s maestro and apparent captain-in-waiting, and currently within the last six months of his contract. That means he is free to negotiate with any club who might be interested — and given his quality of play this season, he is sure to find a suitor if he wishes to. Manchester City? FC Barcelona? Arsenal FC? The fit is obvious and every potential destination is the crème de la crème
From Sport Bild, via @iMiaSanMia:
In case of a renewal, Joshua Kimmich would continue to earn around €20m per year in addition to a signing fee for a 4-year contract until 2029. A pay cut was initially considered by the club, but that will be difficult to materialize given the player’s form and the fact he’s rarely ever injured [@BILD]
Kimmich is self-represented (most recently meeting with club executives himself on Wednesday) but the quality of his work says it all. The financially disciplined Bavarians would surely love to keep their wage bill down across the board. They just are in no position to do so with Kimmich.
Who says hard work doesn’t pay off?
