Graham Potter has some seriously important tasks on his hands at West Ham in the January transfer window.
And that won’t purely be about signing players – the 49-year-old needs to move a few on from West Ham as well.
Graham Potter took over from Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium on Thursday, and he has already highlighted how he needs to address our defensive issues as a matter or urgency.
Potter’s task of turning things around in charge of the Hammers will not be an easy one.
The players’ mentalities are clearly questionable, and he absolutely has to improve the culture and standards at the London Stadium.
I’d love to see him move one or two players on as well if I’m being honest.
It seems like one player in particular is desperate to leave of his own accord.
Graham Potter’s first job at West Ham now clear
Potter clearly has so much work to do at the London Stadium, if he is to oversee some genuine progression.
The group of players assembled by Lopetegui and Steidten is an extremely unbalanced one.
A lot of hard work needs to be done on the training ground, that goes without saying.
However, Potter has to bring in a striker, a powerful central midfielder and some cover in the centre-back department.
In addition to that, there are plenty of players at the London Stadium right now who shouldn’t be anywhere near the squad.
We have far too much deadwood clogging up the squad at the moment.
And it seems like one of those players in particular will be really easy to move on this winter.
Player still wants to leave West Ham in January
Luizao is still keen to move on from the Hammers in spite of Potter’s arrival according to a report from Premier League Brasil.
It has already been claimed that the 22-year-old was keen to leave the London Stadium, with NINE clubs keen to sign him in January!
However, some thought that Lopetegui’s exit may change things. That hasn’t turned out to be the case at all though.
The bottom line is that the Brazilian centre-back has to leave the Hammers this winter.
Luizao joined the West Ham on a free transfer from Sao Paulo way back in January 2023.
However, he is still yet to play a senior game for us, and that says it all really doesn’t it.
The 22-year-old was a strange signing in the first place from David Moyes if you ask me, and now he will likely leave West Ham in the January transfer window.
Whether Graham Potter would even be prepared to give him a chance with the first team squad is unclear.
