Despite strong rumours today, it is AC Milan that are leading the chase regarding a loan deal for Marcus Rashford. Manchester Utd are reportedly happy to pay the bulk of his staggering £300k a week salary, which has alerted a number of other clubs, including Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and now West Ham. It’s likely the player will favour a move away from the Premier League.
A more realistic target is Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi who was at Liverpools academy for six years so qualifies as home grown, despite being Nigerian. The 6ft target man has 17 goals in 62 appearances for Forest and is deemed surplus to requirements.
Other striker targets include Jonathan David, yet it is expected he will see out his contract at Lille and access his options in the summer.
Evann Guessand is another striker in the French league that the Hammers have cast their eye over. The Ivory Coast international who plays for Nice has 7 goals and 4 assists in 16 league appearances so far this season, yet has been less prolific in previous years having spent time out on loan at Nantes and Lausanne-Sport.
PSG forward Randal Kolo Muani has been told to find a new club, having scored 16 goals for Eintracht Frankfurt he earnt a big money move to the French giants in 2023, yet has struggled to replicate his previous form. The €80m signing is wanted by Manchester United, who are trying to put a loan deal together.
Lastly, SKY sports (and Claret and Hugh earlier today) are reporting that Niclas Fullkrug is being lined up as a replacement for Omar Marmoush at Eintracht Frankfurt, should he join Manchester City for £50m.
We expect there to be quite a lot of movement, both incoming and outgoing between now and the end of the transfer window, as Potter and his team assess the current squad.
