The Under-18s coach said those working at the club would gladly accept a period of stability
Leighton Baines said Everton is a club that needs stability as he refused to get dragged into the debate about who should be the new manager. The Under-18s coach, who led the senior team to an FA Cup win over Peterborough United after the dismissal of Sean Dyche, said an end to the turbulence of recent years would be welcomed at the club and that he believed new owners The Friedkin Group were intent on providing that.
And while he declined to comment on the search for Dyche’s replacement, he did praise his former Blues boss Moyes, the frontrunner for the job, when asked to comment on speculation over a potential return.
Questioned over the emergence of Moyes as TFG’s preferred candidate, Baines said: “I don’t know, I don’t want to get too dragged into discussions about who the right man is and all the rest of it. What I can do is speak to David Moyes because I played for him.

“He was a great coach to play for and a good man, but as far as who the right man for the job is, I don’t want to get dragged into that.”
Baines told reporters that he had no intention of applying for the senior Everton managerial role but that he would support whoever is appointed and took pride from his experience in the dugout on Thursday night.
Asked what the Blues needed right now, he said: “The football club is in a situation where it definitely wants some stability and I think that has been the message from the owners since they came in.
“I don’t think it is going to be off the bat, boat loads of money and crazy things happening, it’s stability, I think.
“Everyone would gladly accept that at the moment, we have been through a lot over the last few years and more, so I think that and progress, and then let’s see where it takes us.”
