Fraser Forster’s time at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could be ending sooner than expected, with a former scout suggesting that the 36-year-old could be heading for a January transfer exit.
Many Lilywhites supporters would now be asking questions about Forster’s place in the pecking order at White Hart Lane, especially after that ‘really good‘ performance from Antonín Kinský in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinal against Liverpool, where the Lilywhites winter signing showed his composure as he received high praises from fans and pundits alike.
King thinks Kinský emergence opens doors
With Kinský in the roster, it looks increasingly difficult for Froster to win his place back in the eleven, and former Tottenham scout Bryan King has suggested that the veteran may eye up an exit sooner rather than later. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:
“Spurs have used four goalkeepers this season and it is only January. That is quite amazing. It seems as though Forster has fallen down the pecking order now. Therefore, it looks to me as if the writing is on the wall, it is time to go. If a club which will guarantee him first-team football makes an offer in January, I think he would leave.”
Forster is going anyway, now or summer
Forster stepped in for an injured Vicario and had some decent outings, but the Kinský situation puts Forster’s future in doubt, and Forster’s veteran status means the opportunities would be rarer at N17 given Ange’s motive to give young players more opportunities.
While Froster can play some valuable minutes for a Championship club in the twilight of his career, there is a good possibility that he will continue at N17 for the rest of the season and run down his contract given what he has been doing at White Hart Lane over the years. And if a winter exit doesn’t materialise, then the North Londoners will be seeing off the 36-year-old in the summer at the end of the season when his contract at N17 is due.
