Mikey Moore could get an opportunity to impress from the start vs Tamworth FC in the FA Cup
Tottenham Hotspur commence their FA Cup campaign on Sunday when they head to National League side Tamworth FC.
All eyes will be on this early kick-off at the weekend at the Lamb Ground as neutrals will hope for a classic third-round shock. The Lilywhites go into the game on the back of a 1-0 win over Liverpool in their first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, but they’ve been plagued by injuries and inconsistency this season.
This FA Cup tie at Tamworth FC allows Ange Postecoglou to rotate his squad, especially with several of his key players constantly playing owing to the team’s ongoing injury crisis. One area where rotation is not only anticipated but seemingly inevitable is the forward position.

Club-record signing Dominic Solanke has rarely been afforded the luxury of a rest, purely because of Richarlison spending the majority of the first part of the campaign on the sidelines. Considering the burden the English striker has had to shoulder since the start of the season, it is widely expected that Postecoglou will rest him.
Skipper Son Heung-min may also be afforded a rest to manage his fitness levels, which paves the way for academy talent Mikey Moore to step into the starting XI.
Mikey Moore returned to the bench for the 1-0 Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg win over Liverpool in midweek after being out for almost two months with illness. And John Wenham—the owner of the reputable Spurs podcast the Lilywhite Rose—expects the teenage prodigy to start against the Nations League minnows.
“I could see Archie Gray being given a go in midfield alongside Pape Matar Sarr, with James Maddison playing further ahead. Brennan Johnson will likely get the nod on the right and then we could see Moore return on the left, while Will Lankshear is allowed to lead the line,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.

Arguably the brightest talent produced by the Tottenham academy perhaps since Harry Kane, Mikey Moore was enjoying his breakout season with the senior team before contracting a virus in November. Unfortunately, the bad virus had sidelined the young winger for almost two months before he returned to the bench against Liverpool in midweek.

The Southwark-born talent’s return should be helpful for Big Ange, providing him with an option to rotate in attack, especially in cup fixtures. With games coming thick and fast, the Greek-Australian manager should hand a few youngsters a runout against Tamworth FC. And Moore will be expected to get the nod to impress from the onset.
