Bayern Munich loanee Armindo Sieb is doing well at Mainz 05. The attacking midfielder was loaned out to Die Nullfünfer at the start of this season for a period of two years. An option to purchase Sieb for €5 million is available to Mainz.
Per a report by Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) Mainz are happy with the performance of Sieb but there is no clear indication yet whether they would exercise their buy option. Understandably, it would be a given that with the loan period till 2026 it would be too early for such a decision. However, in the complex web of transfers and loans it is not uncommon for purchase options being time bound say within the first year or the first 18 months of the loan period. Sieb plays at the CF position and likes to drift in from the right side. He possesses quick acceleration and loves to dribble. In the game against Bayern he managed cause trouble and also assisted a goal against his parent club.
With the current crop of Bayern wingers having a poor run of form, Sieb is someone who has the potential to be developed into a Bayern super sub for the short term before anything else. According to data from Transfermarkt, Mainz 05 have been in a comfortable transfer surplus in the past few seasons. The 5 million sum would be no hindrance, should Mainz choose to invest long term in Sieb.
