Tottenham have been beaten by Juventus to the signing of PSG striker Randal Kolo Muani
At one point, it looked like Tottenham Hotspur would win the race for Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani’s signature.
Spurs held an advantage over Juventus for the loan signing of the France international, who had become surplus to requirements for PSG coach Luis Enrique. However, Juventus have beaten the Lilywhites to the 26-year-old’s services, with transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano stating on X that the PSG outcast will join Thiago Motta’s side on a loan deal with no option or obligation to buy until the end of the season.
The North Londoners were in desperate need of a versatile forward like Kolo Muani, who ticked all the boxes for Ange Postecoglou. The Frenchman had emerged as the 59-year-old tactician’s top target due to his versatility—being able to operate as a No.9 as well as on the flanks. Thus, the chiefs at the Hotspur Way have been ‘gutted’ at not being able to get the deal over the line.

Now, Fabrizio Romano claims that Tottenham have yet to identify their next concrete striker target after missing out on Kolo Muani to Juventus. With just over two weeks left for the January transfer window to slam shut, no tangible names who the Lilywhites might consider targeting have yet emerged.
“I’m sure they do, but no concrete name leaks yet. From today we will see, as yesterday Spurs tried until the end to convince Kolo Muani and get the green light from the player,” Romano wrote in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter.
“PSG accepted both loan proposals from Juventus and Spurs, but then the player decided for Juventus also because of Champions League football.”
Before moving to PSG, Kolo Muani was rated among the hottest strikers in the Bundesliga, where he had netted 15 goals and registered 14 assists in 32 games for Eintracht Frankfurt during the 2022/23 season. His versatility, dynamism, dribbling skills and composure in front of goal make him an ideal player for the modern tactics, especially for a side like Tottenham that desperately needs new faces that can make an impact straight away.
Missing out on the ex-Frankfurt star feels like a significant blow for the North Londoners. But for Kolo Muani, to join one of the biggest clubs in the world and compete for major trophies under a young and dynamic manager like Thiago Motta would likely have proved tempting even if Tottenham were pushing for his signature.

Even if there haven’t been rumours over an alternative target to Kolo Muani, one would assume that Daniel Levy and Co. should have a concrete Plan B when it comes to reinforcing Tottenham’s attacking unit.
