West Ham United have dismissed reports suggesting the club is close to signing striker Michy Batshuayi.
The former Chelsea forward, now playing for Galatasaray, has started just one game this season and is reportedly being offered to various European clubs by his representatives.
It seems the Hammers have been caught up in the collateral damage of Batshuayi’s agent’s attempts to link their client with potential transfer moves. According to a top source at the London Stadium, there is zero interest from West Ham.
When Claret & Hugh checked with a separate source heavily involved in the transfer window, we were told: “It’s the first I’ve heard of it. West Ham have been linked with over 40 players so far in January.”
Batshuayi has had multiple opportunities to join the Hammers in the past, rejecting the club on three occasions. However, those rejections came during the peak of his career, and it’s a stretch to expect interest now that he’s well past his prime.
This appears to be another case of much ado about nothing. Time to move on!
