West Ham United signed Carlos Soler from Paris Saint-Germain on a season long loan deal in the summer.
Carlos Soler has made a slow start to life at West Ham in general though.
That said, he has come into his own in recent weeks, and when he missed our game against Brighton through suspension in December, it highlighted just how important he is to us in the middle of the park.
He needed time to adapt to the rigours of Premier League football.
It usually takes foreign imports a good few months to become accustomed to the sheer pace and intensity of English football anyway.
Now we’re starting to see the best of Soler.
And there might just be plenty more where that came from.
Big Carlos Soler twist emerges and it’s beautiful for West Ham
The Spaniard, 27, was only signed on a ‘dry loan’.
That means the Hammers do not have an option to buy him at the end of the season.
That’s a big concern because Soler has begun to look more and more influential with every week that passes.
Now though, according to a report from Spanish publication AS, the belief that the former Valencia midfielder will join the Hammers on a permanent deal is ‘growing’.
It was initially claimed that West Ham would find it very difficult to sign Soler on a permanent deal, due to his enormous wages.
That is absolutely fantastic news for us.
Carlos Soler is a magician with the ball at his feet, and he makes such a difference to the way that West Ham play through the middle of the pitch.
His goal last night proved that he can be a difference-maker for us as well – what an incredible finish that was!
If there is a permanent deal to be done for Soler at the end of the season, then West Ham have to do everything possible to make it happen.
However, I still don’t see how we will cover his whopping pay-packet, unless PSG accept a lower fee for him as a compromise of course.
