Tottenham Hotspur skipper Heung Min Son has been subject to a lot of speculation surrounding his future given how his situation at White Hart Lane remains under wraps despite his recent one-year contract extension option that was taken up by Daniel Levy and the chiefs at Hotspur Way.
And now it is thought that the North Londoners are planning on a brand new transfer behind the scenes that involves the former Bayer Leverkusen ace.
Lee Kang-in for Son?
There have been reports about the Lilywhites being one of the four possible Premier League suitors vying to move for highly regarded Paris Saint-Germain and South Korea forward Lee Kang-in.
Tottenham were looking at a potential transfer for Lee’s PSG teammate Randal Kolo Muani; however, by the looks of it, the Frenchman is rather moving to Juventus at the moment, leaving Daniel Levy scraping for options to bolster his forward line. And former Spurs scout Bryan King is of the opinion that Kang-in could be an option instead, although he does not expect any possible transfer to happen in the ongoing winter transfer window.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:
“If they had signed Kolo Muani, they wouldn’t have then also signed Kang-in. However, they could now look at this transfer, with a Son recommendation to support the move. Having said that, I don’t think that deal would happen in January. Kang-in wouldn’t come cheap if Spurs were to sign him. He is 10 years younger than Son.
“Therefore, he is perhaps a player Tottenham are looking to bring in as an eventual replacement for Son. I’m sure with the captain of South Korea, Spurs have some help on what players to target from that nation.”
The opinion that Kang-in Lee could be a replacement for Son is an interesting outtake given how the latter is ageing and his future at White Hart Lane seems bleak. Getting someone as technical on the ball would be ideal for Ange Postecoglou.
However, it is to be seen if the French club is open to a transfer for the 23-year-old.
