Back in 2023, there was a somewhat brief craze surrounding a potential acquisition of Manchester City defender Kyle Walker by Bayern Munich.
At the time, the rumor had emerged from nowhere, but did — as we would find out later — have some substance to it, mostly due to Walker wanting to have a change of scenery. In recent days, those same kinds of rumors have emerged, but — rest assured — they are not true, per Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg:
Rumors linking FC Bayern with Kyle #Walker are wide of the mark!
#MCFC‘s 34y/o experienced right-back is currently not a topic at Bayern.
AC Milan still pushing to sign him in this transfer window! @SkySportDE
Fabrizio Romano backed up Plettenberg’s report:
Pep Guardiola says he’ll decide this afternoon if Kyle Walker will be in the squad to face Brentford…
…but he’s definitely not expected to play. Walker plans to leave this month with AC Milan in active talks after interest from Saudi.
Negotiations ongoing.
That might come as a relief to some Bayern Munich fans, who were not looking forward to a potential acquisition of Walker.
