Tottenham are interested in signing AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori
Tottenham Hotspur’s miserable record at the Emirates Stadium continued on Wednesday as they were beaten 2-1 by fiercest rivals Arsenal. They were 13th in the table, and after Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Southampton on Thursday evening, Ange Postecoglou and Co. slipped to 14th.
At this moment, Spurs are actually closer to the bottom three than they are in the European spots. Their 11th defeat of the Premier League season has put Ange Postecoglou, who was gutted after his team’s performance in the North London derby, under massive pressure now.
There is no denying the fact that the Lilywhites are in dire need of reinforcements in both defence and attack after the acquisition of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky. Archie Gray and Radu Dragusin were once again paired in central defence in midweek, which speaks volumes about their crisis in defence. Postecoglou has been without Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven—his first-choice centre-backs—since the start of November.

Tottenham would benefit significantly from another quality central defender at this juncture of the campaign amid the ongoing injury crisis. Over the past few weeks and months, there have been several defenders linked with a move to White Hart Lane, including AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori, who is also on Juventus’ radar.
Now, according to an exclusive report from TBR Football, Spurs are considering making a rival offer for Fikayo Tomori after Juventus tabled a loan offer. The Turin giants’ offer is an initial €5 million fee with a €20 million obligation in the summer, plus another €5 million in bonuses.
Tomori was performing extremely well at AC Milan last term, nailing down his position at the back. However, under manager Paulo Fonseca, who was sacked at the end of December, the Englishman started only six Serie A games. While new manager Sergio Conceicao has immediately recalled him into the side, the centre-back’s future at Milan still remains up in the air.

The aforementioned report adds Tomori is open to the prospect of leaving Milan in the summer but new boss Sergio Conceicao is a big fan of the defender and would prefer to keep him at the club. A former Chelsea player, Tomori is already familiar with the English game and will fit in well should he return to the Premier League.

This perhaps suggests a move away from San Siro this month looks unlikely to take place, given Conceicao would want to keep the core of his squad intact. Yet, Spurs must go all-in for Tomori, whose quality and Premier League experience would make him a fantastic fit in Big Ange’s squad. All in all, we must at least test Milan’s resolve with an eye-catching offer for the English defender.
