The January transfer window will be vitally important for West Ham United.
West Ham need to make numerous signings in the January window,
Potter has already made it very clear that he intends to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium this winter.
The 49-year-old really does need to strengthen every single department of his squad.
That said, the additions of a new striker, a powerful central midfielder and a top-class centre-back should be right at the top of Potter’s wish-list.
However, moving on some of deadwood will be key if Potter is to make some space for some new arrivals.
And one man in particular seems certain to leave the Hammers with 24 hours.
West Ham on verge of sealing first January transfer window exit
The Hammers transfer business could be set to kick into life within the next 24 hours.
And it seems like a loan exit could be the first item on the agenda for Potter.
According to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport (print edition January 19th), Maxwel Cornet is set to join Genoa.
The 28-year-old will undergo his medical out in Italy tomorrow before completing his loan move to the Serie A outfit.
Cornet has only just returned from a failed loan spell with Southampton.
All we can hope for now is that he impresses with, and increases his value in the process.
The Ivory Coast international has been absolutely awful for the Hammers, since moving to the London Stadium from Burnley in the summer of 2022.
He suffered badly with injuries, and those health issues certainly didn’t help his chances of succeeding with us.
As harsh as it sounds, the sooner West Ham get rid of Maxwel Cornet the better, and if he joins Genoa in the January transfer window, it will be great news for us.
