Chelsea asked for information on Lazio’s Nuno Tavares during talks with the Italian club about Cesare Casadei according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla.
The Blues are currently negotiating with the Serie A outfit to sell Casadei, who has also been linked with Torino, but as of yet no agreement has been reached between the clubs.
Chelsea are looking to move on a number of players, and potentially make one or two signings, but as of yet the only business so far has been to recall Trevoh Chalobah from Crystal Palace.
Chelsea ask for information on Tavares
Casadei is one of the players Chelsea are looking to move on and it feels like the midfielder has been on the cusp of leaving for weeks, but there’s still no agreement in place.
Torino officials flew into London to try and close a deal, but their latest offer wasn’t enough with Chelsea believed to be insistent on a big future sell-on clause.
Lazio now appear to be in the driving seat and it’s thought there’s now only a small gap in valuation between the two clubs.
However, in another twist Pedulla has reported as cited on X.com that Chelsea asked for information on Tavares during talks between the two clubs.
Tavares is currently on loan from Arsenal, with the move to become permanent in the summer and he’s got eight assists in 16 Serie A appearances this season.
With the future of Renato Veiga up in the air Chelsea are potentially in the market for another left back, so making an enquiry does make sense as they search for an alternative option for Marc Cucurella.
Tavares is 24 so fits Chelsea’s recruitment model in terms of his age, but it remains to be seen if it develops any further in terms of a transfer.
The most important thing for the Blues is to get the sale of Casadei sorted as it’s a saga which has been dragging on for weeks.
