Bayern Munich had a well reported breakthrough with Alphonso Davies on Friday, January 17th, which left only details to be clarified on a new long term contract to renew his old one, which runs out in the summer of 2025. Given the fact that the agent had raised his demands a few days prior, however, there were nagging worries that Bayern had to compromise their wage structure to ward off suitors Real Madrid and keep Davies at the club. Certain details about the new contract are starting to leak out, however, giving fans a better view of what the Canadian superstar’s new contract terms might be, via @iMiaSanMia:
Bayern now believe they’re in the final stages to extend Alphonso Davies’ contract. There are also dicussions about a deal extending until 2030. That would allow the financial demands to be spread over 5 years rather than just 4. The salary is expected to be €15m gross per year. Davies’ strong desire to extend with Bayern was key.
All in all, the contract terms look the same as before the raised demands. If this report is to be believed, Bayern will be able to renew the former Vancouver Whitecaps player without compromising the wage structure.
