Yesterday was a flurry of news and opinion regarding West Ham’s made – and rejected- offer of £57 million for Jhon Duran. Other stories got a little sidelined in the flurry of activity regarding what might have been – but won’t be – West Ham’s most expensive signing, blowing away the €50 million that the club paid for Sebastien Haller.
So other news tended to slide by un-noticed on the radar. One very good piece of news was passed on by Sean regarding the fitness of two pivotal members of West Ham’s attack – Crysencio Summerville and captain Jarrod Bowen.
Both have been a huge miss in recent games – Bowen has yet to feature for the Hammers’ third head coach of his career and Summerville was a big miss against Crystal Palace.
The good news is that Summerville is expected to be fit again for the trip to Aston Villa on Sunday. The team looked toothless without his pace and Potter, along with every fan watching seeking a more uplifting, lively team performance, will welcome him back with open arms.
The bigger surprise was the update on Jarrod Bowen’s fitness: He is making an excellent recovery from his fractured foot and is now expected back for the Chelsea game on Monday 3rd February: Just two weeks away!
After the turgid performance against Crystal Palace without either of these two pacy forwards, just the news that Graham Potter and West Ham fans needed to get the bounce back. Now if we can just get that striker deal finalised before 4th February..
