Borussia Dortmund could be pushed towards a move for Oleksandr Zinchenko as negotiations for Chelsea’s Renato Veiga stall, according to reports.
Patrick Berger of Sky Sport Germany reports that Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea are far apart when it comes to a potential loan fee for Renato Veiga. Dortmund have offered approximately €2.5-3m, but Chelsea want €5m.
Negotiations are ongoing, and Veiga has a verbal agreement with Dortmund. But the lack of an agreement has brought Juventus to the table, with the Serie A side now pushing to outbid Dortmund.
Berger had previously claimed that Dortmund were also considering a loan move for Oleksandr Zinchenko, with initial talks having taken place. Florian Plettenberg now writes that if the Veiga deal falls through, Zinchenko is an option, though he’d be an expensive one for the Bundesliga club.
Berger previously suggested that Arsenal are willing to negotiate, but they want a permanent transfer or an obligation to buy.
The Gunners are looking for around €20m (£16.9m) to do a deal, with Zinchenko under contract until 2026.
Zinchenko has made 12 appearances for Arsenal this season, including just three starts in all competitions. Part of that has been due to injury, but Mikel Arteta is also just relying on other players at the moment.
James McNicholas writes for The Athletic that the emergence of Myles Lewis-Skelly could open up an opportunity for one of Arsenal’s left-back options to leave this month, whether that’s Zinchenko, Kieran Tierney, or Jakub Kiwior.
McNicholas adds that Tierney is probably the most likely, but perhaps a Dortmund bid for Zinchenko could change that.
