Bayern Munich’s transfer interest in young Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens could be heating up.
And Bayern coach Vincent Kompany is driving the pursuit, according to a report from Sky Sport DE journalist Florian Plettenberg. As captured via @iMiaSanMia:
Vincent Kompany wants Jamie Gittens and is campaigning for the player with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund. The Englishman is an absolute top transfer target for Bayern in the summer [@Plettigoal]
BFW Analysis
Is Gittens the latest in a line of talented Dortmund attackers to be poached by a bigger team?
It is about time Bayern gets another one. Christian Pulisic went to Chelsea FC, then AC Milan; Jadon Sancho to Manchester United; Erling Haaland to Manchester City.
But what is it about Dortmund that they cannot seem to hold onto a talented young attacking prospect? They seem to either flourish and leave fast, or stumble. Ansgar Knauff is flourishing now at Eintracht Frankfurt. Karim Adeyemi could be the next hot transfer prospect to leave. Youssoufa Moukoko, embroiled in scandal, is floundering at Nice. USMNT star Gio Reyna, no stranger to scandal himself, has fallen off from the promise he showed at 17.
Gittens is only 20 years of age and has made a real breakthrough in his last two seasons at Dortmund. The homegrown BVBer and English youth international would be a huge scoop for the Bavarians, who are trying to refresh at the wings. It would be just a big a blow to Dortmund’s prospects.
