West Ham United have the chance to sign a sensationally gifted attacker in the January transfer window it seems.
Graham Potter has to strengthen his attacking ranks at West Ham before the January transfer window slams shut.
It’s been all change at the London Stadium this month, with Potter having replaced Julen Lopetegui, and Tim Steidten facing the chop with recruitment guru Kyle Macaulay set to arrive from Chelsea.
Most of the transfer talk surrounding West Ham right now is concerning our alleged pursuit of Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran.
However, the Hammers appear to be casting their net far and wide when it comes to potential transfer targets.
One thing’s for sure – Potter failing to add a forward to his ranks this month should not be an option.
If we head into the second-half of the season with our current options, it will be a real slog for us between now and May.
There is one unbelievably talented player who West Ham seem to be particularly keen on, but the thing is, I’m not quite sure we need him…
Galatasaray demand £34m from West Ham for Baris Alper Yilmaz
So the Hammers made a move to sign Baris Alper Yilmaz a couple of days ago, by lodging a £25 million bid for the Galatasaray star.
It’s little wonder why Potter may want to bring Yilmaz to the London Stadium – he is an exceptional forward.
However, a new update has just now emerged regarding our pursuit of the talented winger.
Haber Sarikirmizi are now claiming that West Ham must pay £34 million if they want to secure Yilmaz’s signature this month.
That’s a decent price for the 24-year-old Galatasaray forward if you ask me.
He is at an age where he will undoubtedly improve every single season for the next four or five years at the very least as well.
However, it’s worth pointing out that our priority should be to sign a proven centre-forward, a powerful box-to-box midfielder and a centre-back in the January window.
Big problem with West Ham signing Yilmaz for £34 million
Yilmaz has been on the Hammers’ radar for quite some time now, and we apparently met his agent in the summer about a potential deal for his client.
The Turkey international is a special talent, there is no doubting that.
Described as ‘incredible’ by beIN SPORTS, the Galatasaray forward seemingly has everything needed to flourish in the Premier League with the Hammers.
He has bagged 10 goals in 19 Super Lig games for Galatasaray this season, and he can play out wide on either wing or through the middle.
Yilmaz possesses impressive pace, has superb technical ability and is a superb finisher.
Signing Baris Alper Yilmaz for just £34 million in the January transfer window will be a great deal for whichever club wins the race for his signature, but I think West Ham have far more pressing priorities this winter than signing another winger.
Potter should be focusing his attention elsewhere this month as far as I’m concerned.
