Managing Bayern Munich, one of Europe’s most successful clubs of all time, naturally comes with a boat load of pressure. Previous managers, especially in recent times considering Bayern’s inconsistent form, will all be familiar with the pressure. However, no one is more familiar than acting manager, Vincent Kompany.
Despite the immense pressure, not to mention the added strain following Bayern’s 3-0 Champion’s League loss to Feyenoord, Kompany was adamant the atmosphere amongst the team was calm. “It wasn’t turbulent. I was calm. We couldn’t change what happened in Rotterdam. But today we had influence on what would happen here. That was our focus,” Kompany shared after the victory (via @iMiaSanMia).
The Belgian coach went on to explain that his calm demeanour isn’t just a temporary disposition and went on to embrace the difficult moments.
“I understand that the standards are very high here, but I’m always calm. We shouldn’t forget that six months ago, the story at FC Bayern was completely different — now it’s nice that we have to win everything. We want that too, but we will want to take our steps. There are no prizes or titles without difficult moments,” Kompany added.
