Not much of a West Ham transfer round-up this evening, particularly if one wishes to ignore James Ward-Prowse. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against the Saints captain but even I’m bored with the link.
It may or may not happen, but you know the newspapers are struggling for stories when they regurgitate the JWP rumours.
There’s a tsunami of reports regarding Declan Rice of course. All I would add is that I hope we get the deal wrapped up quickly or not at all.
So, who are the Hammers being linked with on the last day in May?
Marcos Leonardo
Never heard of him? No, me neither.
Don’t let my ignorance be any barometer of Leonardo’s talent though. The Mail are reporting that West Ham have sent a scout to the under 20 World Cup to look exclusively at the player.
He represents Brazil, is contracted to Santos and it’s believed that the Hammers have been watching him for 12 months. The report suggests that Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester United are also interested . . . let’s hope the lure of shopping at Westfield and a brisk walk to the stadium swings the deal.
Habib Diallo
The 27-year-old Senegalese striker has been linked with interest from Sheffield United but West Ham are keen. Playing for Strasbourg, he has been prolific with his 20 goals proving instrumental in helping avoid relegation.
The French media are claiming interest from ourselves, Palace and Sheffield United. It is also thought that Brentford might be looking for cover during Ivan Toney’s absence.
All in all there’s not too much to get excited about. Until Declan Rice is sold I doubt the club will sanction too much spending. That being said, with the exception of Yunus Musah, I’ve been underwhelmed by all of the reported targets.
