Declan Rice – Just one club interested but fee too low
Just one club interested in Declan Rice reports Hughie Southon
Claret and Hugh can today reveal that West Ham are aware Arsenal are standing by to make an offer of just £85 million for Declan Rice.
A key CandH source revealed exclusively: “That is what we believe will be put to us as there appears to be a lack of money around generally this summer.
“However, we expect bids from two or three clubs once we play our last game as they respect our season is still very much going on
“We would have to hope that clubs such as Manchester United and Chelsea may come in which of course would see the figures rise.”
West Ham claim to know of Arsenal interest
No mention was made of alleged interest from former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel who is now in charge of Bayern Munich.
At this stage any interest is revealed by, or known, from agent activity where representatives talk to clubs ahead of the the transfer window opening rather than club to club offers being made.
Chelsea won’t be moving anyway until new manager Mauricio Pochinetto takes up his new new role on 1 July on a two-year contract and makes it clear to his board which players he requires.
As a result Arsenal will need to sweat it out with the Hammers determined to top £100 million for their prize asset.
