Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano insists Chelsea are interested in landing Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund in the summer window.
The Blues are reportedly looking to sign a new striker in the summer with Christopher Nkunku also set to arrive from RB Leipzig at the end of this month.
Chelsea have been linked with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic but Hojlund could be a cheaper option with Romano claiming Atalanta could ask for €60m for the 20-year-old.
Romano wrote in his Caught Offside column: “One player to watch this summer will surely be Rasmus Hojlund. He’s been outstanding for Atalanta and many top clubs are interested. Manchester United have him on their list of options up front, and he’s very much appreciated at Old Trafford. Chelsea have also been among the big sides to send their scouts to watch him.
“Still, this won’t necessarily be an easy deal for clubs to get done.
“The price tag has not been confirmed yet, but sources indicate it could be around €60m. Clearly that’s a big investment for the 20-year-old Danish forward, but he has big potential so it could end up being a smart investment, so let’s see what happens.”
The links to Chelsea come after Hojlund said there had been “no video call” with Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag but seemed to admit he would be interested in a move to Old Trafford.
Speaking yesterday, Hojlund told Tipsbladet: “It is a huge club, so I must have done something right if it’s rumoured they want me. We have to see what happens.
“From what we all hear, I imagine a lot could happen to quite a few strikers this summer, as many clubs are looking for a Number 9. Something will definitely happen there, and then we’ll have to wait and see if I am included in it.
“My goal is to reach the top shelf, and you can say that Manchester United is. Ten Hag? There has been no video call with him.”
Kai Havertz has been linked with a move away from Chelsea after underperforming this season but Romano says Real Madrid are not prepared to pay the Blues’ asking price.
Romano added: “Another forward facing an uncertain future this summer is Kai Havertz. Despite the interest of Real Madrid, it has become clear in the last few days that the club don’t plan to meet Chelsea’s asking price for the Germany international.
“The Blues want around €60m and hope that other clubs will join the race, though I can’t confirm other names for the moment, despite rumours about interest from Arsenal.”
