Aston Villa join Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer
Tottenham Hotspur have been joined by Premier League rivals Aston Villa in the race for Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer, according to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport via Calciomercato.com.
The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a move to the English top flight in the ongoing transfer window. To that end, the North London side and the Villans are prepared to make an offer to acquire his services.
This summer, the Old Lady will consider parting ways with the defender if they receive an offer of around €50 million. The Bianconeri are eyeing Villarreal Pau Torres and Atletico Madrid star Mario Hermoso as the 26-year-old’s replacement.
Bremer made a name for himself at Torino before Juventus came knocking. The Serie A giants heavily relied on the Brazilian in their backline in the previous campaign.
However, it did not turn out to be a fruitful season for the Old Lady or the defender as they finished seventh in the league table. The 26-year-old had mixed performances in his first year under Massimiliano Allegri.
Similarly, Tottenham struggled in the 2022/23 term. Antonio Conte was unable to bring consistency to the North London side. Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason were also unable to do much for the team.
On the other hand, Villa ended the previous campaign strongly and will be playing European football. Their backline has relied on Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa for some time now, while they also have Diego Carlos in their ranks.
Spurs’ defence has been shaky in the last few months. It seems like Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez are no longer up to the mark at the Lilywhites. Cristian Romero, Ben Davies and Clement Lenglet left a lot to be desired in the previous campaign as well.

Therefore, we could evidently do with someone like Bremer in our ranks to add quality to our defence. However, it will be interesting to see whether Villa will be able to entice the Brazilian to Birmingham.
