West Ham United surely have no chance at all of signing Axel Disasi now as Newcastle United join Manchester United in the race to sign the Monaco centre-back.
Axel Disasi – a long-time target for West Ham – is now a transfer target for Newcastle, as well as Manchester United, according to high profile football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

So Newcastle now trying to bring him to St James’ Park makes David Moyes‘ chances of bringing him to the Hammers even more bleak.
That’s a huge shame because Disasi would have been the perfect summer signing for us…
Newcastle want to ‘sign ‘sublime’ Axel Disasi in big blow for West Ham
Fabrizio Romano reckons that the Toon are ready to swoop in and sign the France international centre-back this summer.
The Italian journalist list tweeted:
The Monaco defender would be an exceptional addition for West Ham this summer. He is literally the perfect long-term replacement for Angelo Ogbonna.
So bearing that in mind, it really hurts that Newcastle are ready to bring him to Tyneside.
Disasi is an absolute powerhouse of a centre-back, and he can play as a right-back as well.
The Frenchman possesses blistering pace, has composure in possession and is extremely strong both in the air and on the ground in the tackle.
In 38 Ligue 1 games for Monaco this season, Disasi racked up three goals and three assists. During those outings he has averaged 0.8 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 2.9 clearances and 2.6 successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).
The France international is a good passer of the football as well. In 38 Ligue 1 games for Monaco this term, he made 50.5 passes on average per match and recorded an average completion rate of 83.8% (Who Scored).
Monaco Tribune describe Axel Disasi as a ‘towering colossus’, whilst AS Monaco’s official website have labelled the centre-back as a ‘sublime’ player, and they’re not wrong.
The Monaco man sits at the very top table when it comes to the best central defenders in Europe. He could be available for around £35 million as well – an absolute bargain.
And Newcastle signing Axel Disasi this summer would highlight just how far they are ahead of us at the moment.
