Fabrizio Romano has a warning for West Ham as Bournemouth take decisive action with a bid for prime David Moyes target Alex Scott.
It is fair to say West Ham supporters are growing increasingly frustrated by the lack of transfer activity from the club in the summer transfer window thus far.
That’s understandable considering the rebuild needed post Declan Rice and with West Ham short in several key areas after a season flirting with Premier League relegation.
The season starts a month today and no arrivals have been forthcoming as yet. In fact West Ham are just one of four Prem clubs not to have made a signing in the window.
That could be about to change in the not-too-distant future, though, after an exciting revelation regarding new technical director Tim Steidten overnight.
One of David Moyes’ prime targets as he reshapes his midfield is Bristol City starlet Alex Scott.
Fabrizio Romano has warning for West Ham as Bournemouth take decisive action with bid for prime David Moyes target Alex Scott
The supremely talented attacking midfielder is said to be destined for a move to the top flight this summer.
According to Football Insider, Scott is firmly on the radar of Moyes and the Hammers are reported to have been in pole position to sign the 19-year-old – who has been likened to Jack Grealish.
A report this week claimed West Ham were haggling with Bristol City over a £3m difference in what they are prepared to pay for Scott and the Championship side’s £25m valuation.
In the meantime one of West Ham’s Premier League rivals have sprung into action in an attempt to win the race for the England Under 20 star.
Now Fabrizio Romano has a warning for West Ham as Bournemouth take decisive action with a bid for prime Moyes target Scott.
Cherries see bid rejected for top Hammers target but they will be back
The transfer reporter has confirmed Bournemouth have submitted an official opening bid for the West Ham target.
The good news for the Hammers is that bid was some £10m short of City’s alleged valuation and was rejected.
But Romano warns the Cherries are not going away and will be returning with an improved offer soon as they are determined to sign Scott.
“Bournemouth have submitted £15m bid for Alex Scott,” Romano said last night.
“Rejected by Bristol City earlier tonight.
“Understand Bournemouth will bid again — they want to insist in the next days, not leaving the negotiations.
“More to follow.”
Great Scott is exactly the type of player West Ham should be looking to sign
Scott is one of the most exciting talents in the country and exactly the kind of signing West Ham should be looking to make.
Young, talented, hungry and with the potential for some serious resale value.
He is exactly the profile of player Steidten was brought to the club to dentify.
So West Ham must get their house in order if they want to bring him to the London Stadium.
There should only be one winner in a straight tussle Bournemouth and West Ham for any player.
But it seems the wait for the first tranche of money from the Rice deal is holding up any concrete moves from the Hammers right now.
