Moyes: Rice delay has hindered West Ham
David Moyes has admitted that the Declan Rice delay has hindered West Ham’s transfer window.
Speaking ahead of the pre-season game against Perth Glory, Moyes came clean on the Hammers transfer window.
Addressing the press Moyes said. “Until it’s done, we can’t really plan anything. We will wait to see what happens. Everyone knows the situation, we are waiting for something to happen.
“I don’t think we can replace Declan exactly like for like. But we will add to the squad as times go on. We won’t give you any names or what we’re going to do.”
Whilst there have been suggestions from the club that money was available, Moyes comments seem to contradict that. It’s no real surprise to most of us who have read between the lines.
The most surprising aspect is the admission that West Ham can’t ‘plan anything’. I can only assume the manager is being coy on the issue, because it really doesn’t make sense.
Whilst I understand the clubs inability to buy, I can’t fathom an inability to plan. I’m sure Moyes is just playing his cards close to his chest, but and admission on the importance of the Rice deal from the club is a good thing.
Clearly our transfer window spending pivots upon Rice’s transfer to Arsenal. As I mentioned in my blog last night, Arsenal have promised to complete the deal today.
