West Ham transfer news: Hammers make official £11 million bid for ‘exceptional’ player
Gianluca Di Marzio reckons that West Ham have submitted a formal offer to Juventus for Denis Zakaria.
I believe that the Switzerland international would be a really smart addition to Moyes’s ranks at the London Stadium this summer.
Former BSC Young Boys coach Uli Forte labelled him as an incredible player with exceptional technical ability (Mondo Napoli).
Whilst that might be a slight exaggeration, Zakaria is definitely a competent player and could do a job for us.
He is in no way good enough to fill the void left behind by Declan Rice but he is certainly good enough to play 30-40 odd games for us in all competitions and do a sterling job.
Zakaria has power, athleticism, energy, stamina and dynamism in abundance. He isn’t the best with the ball at his feet, but as a midfield destroyer he is there to win it and pass it on to his more creative teammates.
If the Hammers can pick him up for £15-17 million, I think it would be a great deal for the club and one that we should definitely pursue.
