- David Moyes’ side have reportedly contacted Ajax over their midfielder Alvarez
- Rice is set to join Arsenal soon, with the Irons seeking a replacement
- Denis Zakaria has also been heavily linked with a move to Moyes’ side
West Ham United have reportedly approached Ajax over a move for midfielder Edson Alvarez as a potential replacement for Declan Rice.
The Hammers captain is set to officially join Arsenal in the coming days, with David Moyes‘ side looking for replacements this summer.
Former Chelsea loanee Denis Zakaria has been linked with a move to the Irons, but it appears that there is a new name on the list now.
According to The Athletic, West Ham have made contact with Ajax over Edson Alvarez, with the Eredevisie side looking for between £35million and £45million.
His current deal in Holland expires in 2025, which could aid Moyes’ side in their pursuit of the Mexican.

Edson Alvarez has reportedly been targetted as a potential replacement for Rice this summer
Denis Zakaria, formerly of Chelsea, has also been heavily linked with a move to West Ham
Alvarez was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea last summer, with Thomas Tuchel a keen admirer of the 25-year-old.
It was believed that the Blues made an offer of £43million last summer but had the bid rejected as Ajax couldn’t find a replacement in time.
They instead opted to sign Zakaria on loan, a player which could join West Ham alongside Alvarez this summer.
The Mexico international made 44 appearances in all competitions last season as a defensive midfielder and in central defence, two positions that Rice has played in his career.
It remains to be seen if the two sides can reach an agreement over the transfer as Rice closes in on his exit.
