West Ham boss David Moyes tells Ange Postecoglou he’ll never face more pressure than he did at Celtic – despite Aussie taking one of the most difficult jobs in the Premier League
David Moyes has backed Ange Postecoglou to succeed at Tottenham after showing he can handle the pressure at Celtic.
The Australian won five trophies in two seasons with the Glasgow giants before moving south of the border to take the Spurs job last month.
While Postecoglou has won trophies in Australia, Japan and Scotland, Tottenham is by far the most high-profile job of his career.
The 57-year-old has been tasked with rebuilding Spurs after an underwhelming season and may have to do so without Harry Kane, who remains linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
But Moyes believes Postecoglou’s spell at Celtic proves he’s the right man for the job.

David Moyes has backed the Australian to be a success in the Premier League
‘He will never get more pressure than he did managing Celtic Football Club,’ said Moyes, who played for the Bhoys early in his career.
‘Celtic Football Club are probably the third or fourth best supported club in the world, and if you manage Celtic Football Club you are used to pressure.
‘So he will have no problem.’
Spurs take on West Ham in a pre-season friendly in Perth on Tuesday, the third time Postecoglou and Moyes have come face-to-face as managers.
The Australian was in charge of the A-League All-Star team that played Manchester United in 2013 just months after the Scot had replaced Sir Alex Ferguson.
Two years ago, Moyes took West Ham to Celtic Park for a pre-season fixture ahead of Postecoglou’s first campaign in charge of Celtic.
‘Ange is very good. I was fortunate when I was manager of Manchester United we played against Ange out in Melbourne,’ Moyes said of his Spurs counterpart earlier this week.
‘That was the first time we met. We also played Celtic two years ago up at Celtic Park and I met him there again.
‘I always remember he gave me a really nice bottle of Australian red wine, that’s what I remember when I came out here!
‘I gave him one back when I met him again in Glasgow. I’m looking forward to seeing him.’

Moyes also revealed the Australian sent him a message congratulating West Ham on winning the Europa Conference league in May, as the Hammers beat Fiorentina 2-1 in the final.
And the 60-year-old was equally impressed with Postecoglou’s achievements, as he led Celtic to a domestic treble.
‘I have to say he sent me a great message after we won the final,’ Moyes said.
‘He did a remarkable job with Celtic, this year winning the Treble was incredible, it really was.’
