Atalanta prepared to offer 25-year-old to West Ham as part of Gianluca Scamacca deal

Atalanta were linked with a £26 million move to sign Scamacca, 24, just yesterday.

Hammers boss David Moyes paid £35 million to bring the Italy international to the London Stadium last summer, so the East London outfit will undoubtedly want to recoup closer to that fee for him.

And as a compromise, Atalanta could be prepared to offer one of their players to us in an attempt to sweeten the deal..

TuttoMercatoWeb claim that the Serie A side are prepared to offer Merih Demiral to the Hammers this summer in order to help prise Scamacca away from the London Stadium.

Here’s the kicker though – Demiral has no interest in joining West Ham from Atalanta. So that puts paid to that doesn’t it!

That’s a real shame because I think the 25-year-old would have been an exceptional addition for the Hammers.

The 39-capped Turkey international is an absolute colossus. Standing at 6ft 4in tall, Demiral is a powerhouse in the air, and relishes the physical battle with opposing attackers.

He isn’t the quickest of defenders, but he reads the game superbly, and has a terrific temperament.

Unfortunately for us, all of this is a moot point because he apparently has no interest in moving to the London Stadium.

So if Atalanta are going to sign Gianluca Scamacca from West Ham, they will just need to stump up the cash won’t they.
