David Moyes has whittled his transfer wishlist down to the chosen two after an ‘ultimatum’ to the West Ham board.
Much has been made about the contrasting profile of player being targeted by West Ham this summer transfer window.
Particularly as the ridiculous wait for a first Hammers signing goes on and on.
West Ham boss David Moyes wants proven Premier League performers and leaders following the departure of Declan Rice.
New technical director Tim Steidten uses a data driven approach. And he tends to target younger, unproven players with potential, who often cost a lot less.

And it states the Hammers boss is ‘sympathetic’ to the change of recruitment philosophy at the club.
But on the condition that this summer he gets the proven players he believes are needed for next season.
Now Moyes has whittled his transfer wishlist down to the chosen two after an ‘ultimatum’ to the West Ham board.
‘Moyes feels he should be backed with targets he wants and has specifically named duo’
According to The Independent Moyes has told West Ham’s ownership he wants Harry Maguire and James Ward-Prowse.
The report claims the club are trying to persuade Moyes to go for longer term targets recommended by Steidten.
But Moyes is ‘intent’ on getting deposed Man United captain Maguire and relegated Saints skipper in the door as his prime, priority signings.
“David Moyes is intent on bringing Harry Maguire and James Ward-Prowse to West Ham for the new season, but it is understood the club’s recruitment team has been attempting to put longer-term options forward…” the report states.
“Moyes, buoyed by bringing in the club’s first trophy for over three (it’s actually four) decades, feels he should be backed with targets he wants and has specifically named Maguire and Ward-Prowse.”
It comes after Scottish sources claimed Moyes gave the West Ham ownership an ultimatum to have Ward-Prowse – who is reportedly keen to join having held talks with the manager – signed by the weekend.
