West Ham have stepped up their interest in Edson Alvarez by reportedly agreeing personal terms with the Ajax midfielder.
The 25-year-old midfielder is open to the move with manager David Moyes keen to bring the player to the London Stadium this summer.
Defensive midfielder Alvarez could fill the void left by Declan Rice following his £105million move to Arsenal earlier this summer.
Now the Hammers will hold talks with the Dutch club over the weekend, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
The move comes as Moyes’ future at West Ham is under serious threat following a row over recruitment.

David Moyes’ West Ham are reportedly advertising online for seven positions in their squad
Mail Sport understands that the Scot may depart in the near future leaving the Hammers searching for a manager ahead of the new season.
Tensions have been rising throughout the summer amid a difference in opinion on transfer targets between Moyes, new technical director Tim Steidten and co-owner David Sullivan.
Moyes is keen to bring in players with Premier League experience such as James Ward-Prowse and Manchester United pair Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay.
However, he has faced hurdles getting those deals over the line with others wanting to go in another direction.
However no signings have yet been made by Moyes, leading him to advertise for seven positions on a transfer website in an attempt to bring new faces in.
