Atalanta beat Inter Milan and Roma to ‘seal £21m plus add-ons deal’ for West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca
- Atalanta are reportedly closing in on a £21m deal to sign Gianluca Scamacca
- West Ham ‘will sell’ the forward after he arrived at the club last year for £30m
- David Moyes’ future at the club is growing uncertain amid rows over recruitment
Atalanta are closing in on a deal to sign West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca with the forward set to undergo a medical at the Serie A Club, according to reports.
Mail Sport had previously stated that several Italian sides were interested in signing the 24-year-old this summer, with Inter Milan and Roma both interested in the forward.
But according to Fabrizio Romano, Atalanta have beaten both of the Italian giants to his signature.
He claims the Serie A club have reached an agreement with West Ham to acquire the forward for a ‘fixed fee of £21million plus £4m in add-ons’, adding that the deal is now ‘done’ and ‘sealed’.
Romano understands that the ‘documents are being prepared and West Ham will sell the Italian striker’, before saying that his ‘medical tests are booked’ and that ‘the player will travel to Italy later today’.

West ham reportedly also have a 10 percent sell on clause included in the transaction, but will make a loss on the deal after they signed the forward for £30m from Sassuolo last summer.
In the 12 months he has spent in east London, Scamacca has struggled to impress, scoring three times across 16 appearances in the Premier League before a knee injury and a meniscus problem ended his season prematurely.
He did manage to also chip in with three goals in West Ham’s victorious Europa Conference League campaign, but has openly admitted his desires to leave the club.
Earlier this summer, he teased a move to Roma and claimed that ‘Jose Mourinho would improve me more’ and said ‘Roma is home for me’.
‘Roma is home for me,’ he said to Gazzetta dello Sport.
‘And Totti my idol as a child. And what player in the world wouldn’t dream of being coached by Mourinho? I am convinced that Mou would stimulate me and with him I would improve even more.’

After being priced out of a move to sign Folarin Balogun from Arsenal, Inter Milan were also sniffing around at his availability.
But it seems it will be Atalanta who will get their man, and are certainly not wasting any time in finding a replacement, with the Serie A side set to lose prolific forward, Rasmus Hojlund, to Manchester United.
Meanwhile at the London Stadium, David Moyes’ future at the club is beginning to look uncertain once again, with the Scottish manager currently embroiled in a row over the club’s recruitment.
The former Everton boss wants to bring in players with Premier League experience but is at a stalemate with the football director and owner, David Sullivan, on transfer targets.
