A reporter close to the West Ham board has issued an update on a double deal with Man United for Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay.
Speculation reignited yesterday about West Ham moving for Manchester United duo Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire.
Both players have been linked with the Hammers for some time. And that intensified when Declan Rice was sold to Arsenal for £105m.
There has been claim and counter claim about whether West Ham would meet Man United’s asking price for their deposed captain Maguire and David Moyes’ fellow Scotsman McTominay.
Reports had claimed the Red Devils wanted £45m for their midfielder McTominay and as much as £40m for outcast Maguire. So a deal for either, at those figures, had looked highly unlikely.

But there was a massive development on Friday when a journalist suddenly reported Maguire and McTominay look set to join West Ham in a whirlwind deal from Man United.

It was stated that West Ham were carrying out ‘long distance medicals’.
And that information exchange, it was claimed, suggested ‘the double deal is closer than ever’.
Now a reporter close to the West Ham board has issued an update on a double deal with Man United for Maguire and McTominay.
‘Often seen as a common precursor to agreeing a deal’
Sean Whetstone, who has connections to Hammers vice-chair Karren Brady and majority owner David Sullivan, confirmed the exchange of medical info is usually a pre-cursor to a deal being done.
But he has made clear any chance of a transfer for for the Red Devils pair is in it’s infancy.
“West Ham have asked Manchester United for medical and injury records of Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay often seen a common precursor to agreeing a deal,” Whetstone said.
“This information has rather generously been called a ‘long distance medical’ in one report but is part of an early process.”
Man United boss Erik ten Hag may be planning a future without Maguire and McTominay.
But his West Ham counterpart Moyes could certainly do with them if their final pre-season friendly at Bayer Leverkusen is anything to go by.
At the time of writing, the Hammers have been torn apart by the German outfit and trailed 3-0 at half-time with the hosts completing dominating the ball and playing a one and two-touch passing style West Ham fans can only dream of.
Maguire was named on the bench for Man United’s pre-season friendly with Lens on Saturday but McTominay was not in the squad for the game.
