Liverpool are showing strong interest in appointing Max Eberl as their new sporting director, as reported by journalist Christian Falk.
Eberl, who previously served as a sporting director at RB Leipzig until September, is also in talks with Bayern Munich.
Jorg Schmadtke currently holds the role of sporting director at Liverpool, but it appears that the club is considering a replacement.
Schmadtke arrived in May as a one-year contract replacement for Julian Ward, but his future with the club is uncertain.

Bayern Munich seems to be the frontrunner in securing Eberl’s services. The 50-year-old is a product of Bayern’s academy and strongly desires to work for Germany’s most successful club.
Eberl may be tempted to work alongside Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. The former German player is renowned for his talent-spotting skills and has played a pivotal role in developing players like Marco Reus, Juan Arango, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and Granit Xhaka.
During his tenure at RB Leipzig, he may have established a positive relationship with Liverpool, especially considering the transfers of Dominik Szoboszlai and Fabio Carvalho.
With his wealth of experience and huge contacts, it would not be surprising if Liverpool decides to move on from Schmadtke and makes a solid effort to bring Eberl on board as their new sporting director.
