Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has provided an interesting update following speculation that Liverpool have reached an agreement on personal terms with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
The Reds might be seeking a new forward if Mohamed Salah is indeed tempted to move to Saudi Arabia in 2024. While Osimhen wouldn’t directly replace Salah on the right wing, his potential addition would certainly be noteworthy.
Under this scenario, Luis Diaz would maintain his position on the left wing, Osimhen would take the centre forward role, and one of Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, or Darwin Nunez would occupy the right-wing spot.
This is an interesting prospect for Liverpool, and reports from Italy have suggested that it could actually materialize. In fact, it has been stated that an agreement has been reached between the striker and the English giants.

A new update from Romano contradicts the earlier reports of an agreement between Liverpool and Osimhen.
In his comments reported by the Liverpool Echo, the reliable transfer expert emphasized that there is currently no agreement in place between the player and any club, whether it be the Reds or Napoli.
“Some media is reporting that Victor Osimhen already agreed contract terms with Liverpool. Guys from what I’m told, Victor Osimhen hasn’t agreed anything with any club – not even with Napoli.”
“There’s no agreement on the contract extension. Napoli made a really important proposal to Osimhen, in terms of contract, a very important salary, the biggest in Napoli’s history is on the table for Osimhen. But he has not decided and he has not agreed anything with any club.”
It seems that Osimhen has not yet agreed to a deal with any club, as his current status at Napoli is still not known. The Italian club is yet to announce a deal and the player himself has not made any official statements regarding his future.
No doubt signing a player like Osimhen could be a great move for the Reds, but they have attacking players at their disposal. It would be difficult to negotiate with Napoli if they are determined to keep hold of their player.

There are many other clubs interested in a move and any future transfer will bring in a tough battle between several elite clubs. The recent issues between the player and club regarding a TikTok video seem to be sorted out and things look quiet in the African star’s camp.
It remains to be seen whether there is any significant development in this segment or whether the striker decides on his future with Napoli in the upcoming months.
