Simon Jordan has claimed that Erik ten Hag is ‘not in the same bracket’ as Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp and he will ‘struggle’ to achieve what Manchester United really want, which is to win the league again.
The renowned broadcaster said he had a gut feeling that Ten Hag is not ready to manage a club like United and recalled observing one year ago that he was ‘a small man in a big suit’.
The former Ajax manager faces a must-win game against Copenhagen tonight as the Red Devils sit bottom of their Champions League group with no wins in two.
Jordan, who owned Premier League club Crystal Palace for a decade, referenced Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s doubts over the Dutchman who wasn’t sure whether he knew how to coach big players coming from a club like Ajax to Man United.
He then said: ‘I don’t know with Ten Hag. My gut feel – and you’ve got to stick with it even if the evidence at certain times contradicts it – is that Ten Hag is going to struggle to achieve clearly and surely what Manchester United must want, which is an ascent back to the top.

‘To do that, you’ve got to overcome Guardiola and Klopp and I don’t think Ten Hag is in that bracket.
‘And that means that Man United are not only not good enough behind the scenes, not good enough on the pitch – there’s potentially the argument they’re not good enough in the dugout.
‘Now if he’s given a lot of time to acquire those skills and he’s given a significant period of opportunity, good transfer windows and a change of direction behind the scenes then maybe he gets the chance.
‘If you get booted out of the Champions League after losing three games in a row, and I don’t think they will tonight… then you can clearly understand why people are starting to go – there’s not a lot going on here that is particularly positive.’
Man United got back to winning ways on Saturday night after they beat Sheffield United 2-1 away from home.
Goals from Diogo Dalot and Scott McTominay ensured victory on the day they mourned the loss of club legend Sir Bobby Charlton.
They currently sit eighth in the Premier League table above Chelsea and West Ham.
