Arsenal fans travelling to Brighton for Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off have been hit with major travel chaos on the trains.
The Gunners travel to the south coast seeking to return to the top of the table, but a host of supporters face the prospect of missing the game after a popular train route was severely affected.
Fans travelling from on journeys between Haywards Heath and Brighton will see their plans disrupted after a landslide in the Hassocks/Burgess Hill area has caused some lines to close.
Rail networks have warned of long delays with the issue requiring lengthy work given the nature of the incident that has seen a mass amount of earth fall onto the track.
Brighton confirmed the news just hours before the game that gets underway at 5.30pm and warned off mass disruption for matchday fans travelling by train.

A tweet from Brighton on X read: ‘There is disruption on the train lines today between Haywards Heath and Brighton due to a landslide which means some lines are closed.
‘Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised and disruption is expected until the end of the day.

‘We advise fans travelling to today’s game to leave early and follow @SouthernRailUK for updates.’
National Rail provided a further update and revealed some trains are now being diverted in an effort to minimise delays.
‘Where possible, some trains will divert to run via Horsham and the West Coast.
‘Gatwick Express services will run between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport – they will not run through to Brighton until further notice,’ they added.
