Mikel Arteta says his side are looking to recreate the Invincibles’ aura as they push to become the first Arsenal team to win the league since the unbeaten club of 20 years ago.
A 2-0 win over Luton on Wednesday took them to 10 league games unbeaten and Arteta, whose first taste of facing Arsenal as a player was being thumped 7-0 by the reigning champions while at Everton in May 2005, wants his side to strike fear into opponents as much as the teams of Arsene Wenger’s heyday.
‘I’ve been in the tunnel playing with a different shirt and looking at the Invincibles and I did have the feeling that tonight is going to be really tough,’ said Arteta ahead of Saturday’s 5.30pm kick-off at Brighton.
‘Hopefully we can create that and that’s something very positive for the team.’
Arsenal go into the weekend two points behind leaders Liverpool and a point in front of Manchester City.

And Arteta believes this tightest of title races will go all the way to the final day.
‘This is the level and it’s been the level in this league for the past six or seven years,’ he said.
‘The margins are so small, let’s see those numbers at the end of the last game and hopefully if those are maintained, I think we have a good chance.
‘We’re still not at the top and we have to transform that into winning and winning and winning, and that’s the only way to have the chance in the last game of the season to do it.’
