City Of Troy looks set to dominate the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket but two selections at bigger prices look worth backing earlier on the card.
At 1.45, MUMS TIPPLE (NAP) gets the assistance of Ryan Moore on his return to turf following a close second on the all-weather at Kempton in March.
Beaten only a head that day off a mark of 102, the gelding runs here off 97 which is 3lb lower than when fourth — beaten only one and a half lengths — at Royal Ascot last season. In the 2.20, DUTCH DECOY (NB) bids to go one better than when a nose second over a mile here at the Craven meeting a fortnight ago.
This step up in trip to 1m1f over the same course and distance in which he finished a close sixth in the Cambridgeshire last season will suit and he runs here from 1lb ‘well-in’ at the weights.
