Sergio Gomez set to sign for Real Sociedad
As per reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City fullback Sergio Gomez is set to sign for Real Sociedad on a long term contract. There were at least four clubs in the race to sign the Spaniard, with most of them offering a loan deal for the 23 year old.
City preferred Gomez departing on a permanent deal and thus agreed a deal with Sociedad. The deal with Sociedad is valued at a total package worth €9 million, and includes both a 15% sell-on clause and a buy-back clause for the 23-year-old Spaniard.
Ortega to Become First Choice Keeper if Ederson Leaves
Man City’s first choice goalkeeper Ederson has been linked with Saudi Pro League clubs this entire transfer window. The club won’t stand in the way of the 30-year-old in case he wants to leave.
Instead of seeking a direct replacement, Pep Guardiola has placed his trust in Stefan Ortega to become the main goalkeeper. The 31-year-old German recently extended his contract with City until 2026. If Ederson departs, City plans to bring in a goalkeeper to serve as a backup to Ortega.
City Continues to Invest in Their Academy
Manchester City have been attempting to have the best youth set up in England by poaching the best young talents from other clubs and developing them in Manchester. City recently completed the signing of highly rated attacker Ryan McAidoo from Chelsea.
The Citizens are currently working to sign talented midfielder Han Willhoft-King. The 18-year-old confirmed his departure from Tottenham Hotspur a few weeks ago and is expected to sign for CIty on a two year deal. The midfielder will join the under-19 squad.
City are also working on a new contract for 16 year old forward Christian Dunbar-McDonald. The England youth international is rated highly by the club and is expected to extend his stay at Manchester.
