Manchester City would need to spend “crazy money” if they want to sign Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka, according to CaughtOffside.com.
The website claims that the Premier League champions are “long-term admirers” of the England international, having considered a move for the forward before he signed a contract extension last year.
However, it appears that Pep Guardiola’s side, along with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, have kept tabs on Saka.
Caught Offside claim that Arsenal are considering offering the 22-year-old another contract after the European Championships in order to ward off any potential suitors.
Saka has an eye-watering asking price
It is believed that the Gunners would hold out for as much as €200m (£169m) if they were to sell the winger in the future, but that scenario is deemed to be extremely unlikely.
Saka has never shown any sign of wanting to leave the Emirates, having come through the London club’s Hale End academy before making his senior debut back in 2018.
Are City looking at signing any other forwards?
It was reported that the Cityzens held a strong interest in Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise before the Frenchman ended up moving to Bayern. His teammate Eberechi Eze is also said to be on the club’s radar, while the likes of Jamal Musiala and Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are players that have been scouted as well.
The arrival of Savio from Troyes, following his successful season at Girona, though, may mean that strengthening the first team in wide areas is not needed. With the Brazilian in the squad, Guardiola would have plenty of wingers at his disposal.
It’s likely that, while City may hold Saka in high regard, they have never truly believed that he is an attainable transfer target, considering his loyalty to Arsenal.
