Bayern Munich got back into action after the international break with a booming 6-1 demolition of newly promoted Holstein Kiel, continuing the strong start to the Vincent Kompany era.
A spectator for most of the match, Bayern club captain Manuel Neuer had some positives to take away from the game. Speaking after the match (as captured via @iMiaSanMia), the goalkeeper said, “We got [into the game well]. We dominated and controlled the game right from the start. Of course, it’s annoying that we couldn’t keep a clean sheet. The goal was tough to defend and the striker did well. There are many positives from today. But games are now coming thick and fast, we want to win against Zagreb on Tuesday and in the Bundesliga on the weekend.”
While Neuer might be upset to have conceded a goal from just 0.09 post-shot expected goals (FotMob), the main objective was three points and a strong performance, anything else is just gravy. The win was good, but it’s time to look forward to Dinamo Zagreb and the Champions League.
