In perhaps news that you weren’t expecting to read this morning, Chelsea left back Marc Cucurella says that he wet his pants during one Euros game for Spain in the summer!
But fear not, he was not talking in a literal sense, he was joking whilst speaking about a penalty decision that he thought was going to be given against him!

Cucurella is a very funny character, as we have so often seen since he has been a Chelsea player. He doesn’t seem to take anything too seriously and seems to love to laugh, which is great.
But he wasn’t laughing during one game at the Euros, at least at the moment when he thought Referee Anthony Taylor might award a penalty against him for hand ball.
The ball struck Cucurella’s hand
As you can see above, the ball hit his hand, but although the incident was looked at, Taylor called no penalty. Even still, the Spanish international explained how it was a touch and go moment for him!
As cited on X, Cucurella said:
“Mamma mia, what a shock. I wet my pants. I looked at the referee and saw him say firmly: ‘No penalty!’ I told myself, ‘Relax’, but I couldn’t do that until the game resumed.”
Not even Taylor, who seems to give a lot of decisions against Chelsea, could give this one as it was clear that Cucurella’s hand and arm was completely down by his side so there was no intention to handle the ball.
