Pedro Neto has admitted he’s had a bit of a difficult start to the season, but feels like he’s starting to get back to his best form.
The Portugal international swapped Wolves for Chelsea this summer in a deal worth an initial £51.4m as the Blues bolstered their attacking options.
The 24-year-old was plagued by injury issues during his time at Wolves and the Blues will be hoping he’s put those behind him as he embarks on the next chapter of his career at Chelsea.
Neto feels like he’s getting back to his best
The signing of Neto was met with a lot of excitement given he’s a proven quantity in the Premier League and has shown he can perform to a high level.
The Portugal international has caused Chelsea headaches in the past and the Blues will certainly be glad to have Neto in their ranks rather than coming up against him.
It’s been a slow start to life for Neto at Stamford Bridge, although there are signs he’s now starting to find his feet and his performances are improving.
Neto has started just two of Chelsea’s seven Premier League games, and was substituted at half time in one of those against Bournemouth.
The cup competitions have offered Neto the opportunity to start games more regularly and he has two goals in three appearances across the Carabao Cup and the Conference League.
The winger, who is currently on international duty has admitted it’s been a bit of a difficult start to the season, but feels like he’s now starting to get back to his best.
“I feel like I’m getting back to my normal self,” he told reporters as cited on X.com.
“I had a bit of a difficult start to the season, recovering from my injury and also being in the European Championship. But I’m very happy with the way I’m working and I’m reaching my best, without a doubt.”
Neto has won 12 caps for Portugal to date, with Chelsea team-mates Renato Veiga, who made his debut against Poland on Saturday and Joao Felix also part of the national team set-up.
The winger’s ability is clear and Chelsea will be hoping he can stay fit and make an impact this season as the Blues look to get back into the Champions League and get their hands on silverware.
