The 2023/24 season saw Bayern Munich fans grow more and more distant from the team, as poor performances, a cloudy future and a lack of public training sessions started to cut some connections. This is a problem Bayern have sought to fix this season, with the easiest problem to solve being the lack of public training sessions. However, even this problem has proven difficult to solve, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:
On July 22nd, [Bayern director of sport] Max Eberl had addressed the fans in Rottach-Egern and promised that there will be more public training sessions in the future, ideally one or two every two weeks. However since the start of the season, there was only one public training on August 28th – over 7 weeks ago.
When asked by BILD, FC Bayern said that there had already been four public training sessions since the start of pre-season, as well as the public test match on July 24 against Rottach-Egern. The club will continue to offer regular public training sessions in the future, but the opportunities to do so are currently limited given the many busy weeks and international matches.
It has been particularly difficult for Bayern in recent times, as the international break was sandwiched between six away games in eight games. So much travel means less time for head coach Vincent Kompany and the rest of Bayern’s decision makers to host public training sessions. The schedule will even out and home games will increase after Bayern’s trip to FSV Mainz in the DFB Pokal, though, with four of the five games after that in the Champions league and the Bundesliga at home. Hopefully, this will give the Bavarian giants the chance to hold another public training session soon.
