Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has just delivered a real death knell for West Ham United regarding Omar Marmoush.
West Ham have been heavily lined with a move to sign Omar Marmoush over the past six months or so, and it was once claimed that he was likely to move to the London Stadium.
However, Tim Steidten led the charge to bring Niclas Fullkrug to the London Stadium instead.
David Sullivan signed off on the deal to sign the Germany international, and the harsh truth of the matter is that he must be really regretting that call.
As Fullkrug struggles to establish himself at West Ham, Marmoush continues to light up the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt, with 14 goals and 10 assists to his name in just 16 games this season.
He has looked absolutely electric this term, and it baffles me that West Ham didn’t bring him to the London Stadium back in the summer.
It was recently claimed that Marmoush is dreaming of joining Liverpool, and after Salah’s latest comments, that could well be set in stone now.
Mohamed Salah’s Omar Marmoush death knell for West Ham
Liverpool superstar Salah is undoubtedly one of Marmoush’s heroes.
And now Salah has opened up on his admiration for his fellow countryman.
The Liverpool forward spoke very highly indeed about the Eintracht Frankfurt forward, as quoted by BILD.
“Omar Marmoush is a very good player and an important part of the ranks of his German team and the Egyptian national team. He shows outstanding performance for both teams and has great potential,”
“Marmoush is one of the Egyptian or Arab players who had problems in Europe and had to wait until they could reach their current level.
“Stay away from comparing us and saying that Omar is the new Salah and will achieve what I achieved. That doesn’t do him any good and puts him under constant pressure.
“Without these comparisons, his life is easier. And it will bring him more joy in the things he achieves in his career. There is no point in comparing a player who is at the beginning of his career with another who has been there for a long time and has achieved a lot.”
Salah’s praise of Marmoush will be the final nail in the coffin to West Ham’s hopes of signing the electric 25-year-old forward.
And the Liverpool star’s comments prove that the Hammers should have pushed harder to sign the Egyptian back in the summer, rather than bring in Fullkrug.
The signing of Fullkrug already looks like a complete and utter disaster.
The Germany international is currently out injured, and hasn’t featured for the Hammers since August 31st.
Fullkrug has been given just 63 Premier League minutes for West Ham thus far, and when he has played for us, he seemed to be well off the pace.
The wisdom behind spending £27.5 million on a soon-to-be 32-year-old with no experience of Premier League football was questionable to say the least.
Tim Steidten put his reputation on line by signing his countryman, and as things stand, it’s not looking good for him.
David Sullivan will be having nightmares as well, after shelling out such an extortionate fee for someone who seems destined to be a flop.
If only West Ham had pushed harder to sign Omar Marmoush. The praise from Mo Salah proves to me that the Egypt international is destined to reach the top.
And I would be shocked if he joined us over Liverpool now.
