The future looks incredibly bleak for Julen Lopetegui at West Ham United right now doesn’t it.
What is the definition of insanity again? Repeating the same mistakes over and over again whilst expecting different results right?
Well, Julen Lopetegui has well and truly fallen into that trap at West Ham hasn’t he.
The Hammers board are said to be very unhappy with Lopetegui, and Roger Schmidt is said to be amongst the candidates to replace the Spaniard.
I just can’t see the 58-year-old lasting beyond our next two games.
He has failed to deliver on numerous fronts already this season, and I don’t see a scenario where we improve anytime soon.
Hiring Lopetegui was a bizarre decision at the time, and we’re paying the price for that short-sighted appointment now.
Things could have been so different, had the Hammers owners had the courage and conviction to bring someone like Ruben Amorim to the London Stadium.
West Ham fans will be baffled by bizarre Julen Lopetegui claim
To say that the Hammers fans are disillusioned with goings on at the club right now would be an understatement.
Things seem to get worse and worse with every week that passes, and Lopetegui is surely on borrowed time at the London Stadium.
The most frustrating thing is that most Hammers fans saw this coming.
Sky Sports have run a feature piece on Lopetegui, and his struggles at the London Stadium.
Journalist Ron Walker made a truly bizarre claim about the Hammers head coach.
He said, “Julen Lopetegui’s appointment at West Ham was meant to herald the arrival of an attacking, bold style of football after the platform built across the previous five years.“
Whatever you think of Lopetegui, one thing he is definitely not is an entertainer, and a purveyor of attacking, entertaining football.
I would suggest that 99% of Hammers fans knew that Lopetegui has always been a pragmatist at heart.
We wanted big change after David Moyes left, yet we got stuck with the Spaniard version of the Scot.
At no point did any of us expect Lopetegui to come into the London Stadium, and drastically change the way that we play in terms of our footballing style.
Julen Lopetegui lacks any kind of personality or charisma off the pitch, and that has translated into West Ham’s turgid performances on the field of play.
If the Hammers owners wanted a new manager to come in and completely transform the way that the team plays, then Julen Lopetegui would not have even been in the conversation to replace Moyes.
We’ve been served up exactly what we all expected from the tediously boring Spaniard.
